       THAI Yoga Massage

What is Thai Massage and what can it do for you?
Thai Massage or more commonly referred to as Thai Yoga Massage, has been fractioned for more than 2500 years, Known in Thailand as the Father of Medicine. Born during the time of Buddha.
A session of Thai massage is about 1 – 2 hours long, but it can be longer depending on patient’s condition. During the session, a therapist utilizes the thumb, palms, knees, elbows, and feet to practice the pressing technique; yoga stretches are also applied to mobilize spine and joints; twisting and gentle rocking are included as well.
The therapist/practitioner gains strength by using body weight, while the patient is often instructed to practice breathing exercise during the treatment to experience the more intense work out.
A combination of practitioner’s skills and patient’s breathing pattern brings better results compared to yoga-only exercise.
When muscle tensions or stiffness are relieved, and the spine is in its best flexible condition, the flow of air throughout the energy points is better and, therefore, overall health conditions are improved.
Major Benefits of Thai Massage By addressing the flow of energy throughout patient’s body, Thai massage is effective to improve posture, flexibility, breathing, blood circulation, and digestion. When muscles, joints, and spine are no longer stiff or in tension, it also affects the state of mind; a relaxed body induces relaxed mind.
Thai massage is mostly considered preventive method because practitioners believe that all diseases first appear on energy level before they physically manifest themselves.
Treating diseases at their early stage of development prevent them from becoming more severe. However, Thai massage can treat specific conditions such as joint pain, back pain, insomnia, stress-related illnesses, menstruation problems, digestive disorders, and headaches.
A brief overview of Thai massage benefits is outlined below.  Relieving Muscle Tensions Unlike other types or methods of massage which often address the muscles through direct acupressure approach, Thai massage focuses on energy points to bring longer lasting effects. In 2008, a reporter named Richard Seven wrote for The Seattle Times about his experience with Thai massage. In the report, he highlighted the fact that his muscles remained in a relaxed state for days after a single session. To achieve that, the practitioner used her hands, feet, knuckles, fingers and thumbs to put pressure on specific points on his body while keeping him in stretching pose. It is indeed an effective method to relieve tensions on major muscle groups.
This technique involves compression of tissue, manipulation of soft tissue. Some may consider this an assisted yoga.
However, the existence of active massaging techniques incorporated to yoga movements brings better results.
Relieving Emotional Stress  Scientific studies to support the claim that yoga improves mental well-being. Yoga can reduce heart rate, lower blood pressure, and improve respiration. It modulates stress response system and, therefore, reduces perceived anxiety.
On the other hand, massage therapy focuses more on physical stress including joint pain and muscle tension. Because Thai massage involves yoga poses and massage therapy at the same time, the results are combined to bring better balance in the body.
Thai massage practitioners find the connection between physical and emotional stress so they can address both issues simultaneously.
Improving Immune System Participants of Thai massage experience improved blood circulation and invigorated nervous system. As a result, toxins are released more easily from the body leading to boosted immune system.
When your body reaches good balance between flexibility and mobility, overall health conditions are improved thanks to better digestive system and blood circulation. One of the most obvious results is that your body can combat and prevent diseases more effectively.
In the Work Place: A short 15-minute session of Thai Massage, to the shoulders, neck, head and upper back can reduces stress and poor posture in the work place, which in turn can cut down on days off sick, and help workers to meet deadlines more easily.
